5 MAINTENANCE TASKS TO PERFORM
Some users neglect the importance of maintaining their website. They don’t perform regular checks until something on the site breaks. Today, we will be sharing with you the tasks you should perform to keep your website perform at its best.
1 ) Password
It doesn’t matter if you just starting out in blogging or your blog has been around for sometime. You should always change your password regularly and make sure it is strong. Create a password that contains uppercase and lowercase letters with numbers and symbols.
2 ) Updates
Keep your WordPress and the plugins you use up to date. Sometimes they have a major security updates to keep your blog from being hacked. Review all of your plugins once in a while. Deactivate the ones that are not in use and those that hasn’t been update by the plugin designer for more than a year.
3 ) Check Spam Comments
Akismet is a plugin that block the spam comments from displaying on your blog. But sometimes it block legitimate comment as well. Go check the comment box regularly.
4 ) Run performance test
Time is money – this rule apply to every aspect nowadays. Page speed affect your page views. You want to keep your readers around for as long as you can. If every page they visit takes up to 5 seconds to load, there’re good chance they will leave your website before the page fully loaded. Run the page speed performance test once in a while. 5 ) Backup your website
This is a very important step. You don’t want to lost all your hard works. Most of the hosting company offers a backup features. Save the backup at a remote save drive such as Dropbox, Google drive or even your own desktop.
